Enjoy an unforgettable winter experience surrounded by pristine natural wilderness at Iso-Syöte just beneath the Arctic Circle in northern Finland. Fabulous activities include snowmobile safaris, snowshoe hiking, a husky safari and a visit to a reindeer farm. Leisure days allow you to explore this beautiful unspoilt setting and to enjoy some of the many other activities such as ice fishing or a Northern Lights tour.
Known as the gateway to Lapland, Iso-Syöte lies in Finland’s southernmost fell region and boasts some of the country’s heaviest snowfall. Throughout the winter a deep blanket of glistening snow covers the beautiful landscape of fells and forests. Nearby you will also find 12 downhill slopes, a snowboard street, half pipes and a snow tube run where you can slide down the slope in a large rubber tyre. The gentle fell area is ideal both for beginners and cross country skiers, with 75 miles of well maintained trails starting from just outside the hotel.
All drivers of a snowmobile must have a fully valid driving licence in order to take part in the tour
Day 1 -
UK Departure

Fly from the UK to Finland and on arrival you will be met and transferred to your Log Cabin. The start of your New Year Adventure week has begun!

Day 2 -
Snowmobiling into the wilderness
|
Your first morning in beautiful Finland. All your activities will be pre-arranged for you, and you'll be provided with arctic outdoor clothing for the duration of your stay. After lunch you will meet at the hotel for your first safari. The safari starts at the hotel, where your snowmobiles will be lined up waiting for you! The track goes down hill, and then onwards over hills and fells, the forest and over ice covered swamps and lakes. You will stop to enjoy a warm drink before heading back up the Iso syote hill.

Day 3 -
Snowmobiling and Husky Safari

The safari starts from Hotel Iso Syote by snowmobile, journeying to the point where the huskies are eagerly waiting for you. After an introduction to the huskies and instruction, you take off with the huskies, strongly pulling your sledge. The safari route goes through snowy forests and ice covered swamps in Syote area. There will be stops to switch drivers and to take pictures. Duration : 3.5 - 4hrs. The rest of the day is at your own leisure. The hotel is situated very close to a popular ski slope, lessons and passes can also be pre arranged.

Day 4 -
Northern Lights Safari

A snowmobile safari has a special atmosphere at 'night time' when driving under twinkling stars over the fells and through the snowy forests. We stop to admire the stars in the sky and hopefully get a glimpse of the magical Northern Lights. We'll also have a coffee break by an open campfire. Duration : 3 hrs (45km).

Day 5 -
New Years Eve

Our trip starts from the hotel, after personal instructions how to use the snowshoes. You will hike through the deep snow covering the hill tops of Iso Syote, enjoying the views and the beautiful snow sculptures made by nature. During the break the guide will provide a hot drink and cookies for you. The rest of the day is at your own leisure.

Day 6 -
New Years Day

Day 7 -
Ranua Zoo and Rovaniemi Village
|
A day out to Ranua Zoo and Santa Village. This organised excursion leaves the Hotel Iso-Syote and takes you to Ranua Wildlife Park where you'll get the chance to see Polar Bears, Brown Bears, Lynx, Wolverine and Deer. There are also many different birds of prey including the Golden Eagle, Eagle Owls, Snowy Owls and many types of hawk. After visiting the wildlife park you will travel onwards to Santa's Village. Here you and your children will get the chance to see Santa Claus at his home within the Arctic Circle. Ranua Zoo and Santa Village are both a great day out for all the family.

Day 8 -
Return Flight Home

Your action packed New Year Adventure come to an end, and now its time to say goodbye. Your transfer back to the airport will be arranged to catch your return flight home.
