All drivers of a snowmobile must have a fully valid driving licence in order to take part in the tour
Day 1 -
Arrival (28th Dec)

Fly to Kajaani airport where you will be greeted by Santa’s elves. Transfer to the luxurious Hotel Kalevala (approximately 1 hour). On arrival enjoy a welcome drink and a delicious dinner in the hotel’s excellent restaurant.

Day 2 -
Day for Leisure

After breakfast meet your New Year host who will tell you all about the special New Year programme and the optional activities. You will then be introduced to the hotel’s New Year team who will tell you about all the outdoor activities that are available including tobogganing and kick-sledding. After a light lunch spend your afternoon exploring your snow-covered surroundings or on any of our optional activities. In the evening you can enjoy a sauna before dinner.

Day 3 -
Sample dog sledding, a reindeer sleigh ride and snowmobiling

In the morning enjoy a short taster of a horse-sleigh ride, husky dog safari, reindeer sleigh ride and snowmobiling. Afterwards warm up with a cup of hot juice by the open fire. A light lunch is served around midday, after which you can spend the afternoon on optional excursions and making New Year decorations with a guide. After dinner relax in the hotel’s bar or the sauna. There is a midnight sledding competition at the toboggan run, after which everyone receives a diploma.

Day 4 -
New Years Eve

After breakfast spend the morning enjoying optional activities or resting in preparation of tonight’s festivities. Today’s lunch is served in the hotel’s enchanting winter garden; change into your thermal clothes before the magical meal.
In the afternoon there is a Fairytale Christmas tour, where children taken on a Christmassy walk along a forest trail by Santa’s elves. There will be many surprises along the trail which is lit by ice candles and open fires. In Santa’s enchanting workshop you will see the elves working hard and can assist then in baking ginger bread cookies and Christmas decorations. Later it will be time to gather in the Forest Lodge where you will enjoy hot drinks and hear Christmas tales from the elves. Here you will see your children’s faces will glow in excitement when they meet Father Christmas.
The New Years Eve celebrations at the Hotel Kalevala include tin casting by the fireplace and the chance to learn what the New Year will bring from “Mrs Fortune Teller”. The next stage of the festivities is a lavish New Year gala dinner, where you can enjoy good food and company. During the feast Father Christmas will visit, providing entertainment for the children. Just before midnight the party moves into the winter garden where you can enjoy the countdown and dazzling fireworks display. Afterwards gather back inside where the party will continue with music and dancing until the early hours.

Day 5 -
New Years Day
|
Wake up for breakfast before spending the morning enjoying optional activities or resting. After lunch and your evening sauna you will be transferred by bus to the Kuhmo Arts Centre for a New Years Concert. Afterwards transfer back to the hotel for dinner. The evening continues by a roaring campfire where you can enjoy coffee/tea/juice whilst listening to a magical Shaman. Later there is dancing followed by midnight karaoke in the restaurant.

Day 6 -
Day for Optional Activities

Today is free for optional activities, shopping and relaxing. After dinner there is a folklore program from the traditional Helka group (a local group of boys and girls perform traditional dances and songs)

Depart from Finland (3rd January)

After breakfast transfer to Kajaani airport for your return flight.
