A snowy family Christmas break
Enjoy lavish seven night breaks for Christmas in the picturesque region of the Iso-Syöte, a snow-covered wonderland which is one of the supreme locations in Finland for winter sports. To ensure a traditional festive atmosphere during your Christmas adventure week you will be staying in one of our enchanting log cabins.
Iso-Syöte is often referred to as the gateway to Lapland and boasts some of the heaviest snowfall in Finland. Throughout your Christmas adventure week a deep, crisp snow covers the beautiful scenery, making it the ideal destination for unforgettable breaks. Close to the hotel you will find extensive downhill ski slopes, a snowboard street, half pipes and a snow tube run, perfect for both children and adults alike. The pristine fell region is great for beginners and cross country skiers, with miles of well-kept trails starting just outside the hotel.
Please note that a valid driving licence is required to drive a snowmobile.
Day 1 -
UK Departure 23rd December

Fly from the UK to Finland and on arrival you will be met and transfered to your Log Cabin. The start of your Christmas adventure week has begun!

Day 2 -
24th December Ranua Zoo and Rovaniemi Santa Village and Christmas Eve Programme
|
Wake up to the first morning in beautiful Finland on your Christmas adventure week. All your activities will be pre-arranged for you, and you will be provided with Arctic outdoor clothing for the duration of your stay. An organised excursion to Ranua Zoo and Santa Village departs from the Hotel Iso-Syöte and takes you to Ranua Wildlife Park where you will get the chance to see polar bears, brown bears, lynx, wolverine and deer. There are also many different birds of prey including the golden eagle, eagle owls, snowy owls and many types of hawk. After visiting the wildlife park on your Christmas adventure week you will travel onwards to Santa's Village. Here you and your children will get the chance to meet Santa Claus at his home within the Arctic Circle. Ranua Zoo and Santa Village are both a great day out for all the family. (Pease note that a charge of approx €12 p.p. has to be paid for entrance to the zoo)

Day 3 -
Free Day and Christmas Meal 25th December

Today is a free day in which you are able to take part in any optional activities that may be available. This evening there will a special Christmas meal arranged.

Day 4 -
26th December Snowmobile safari to Wilderness
|
Today on your Christmas adventure week enjoy a snowmobile safari. The safari starts at the hotel where your snowmobiles will be lined up waiting for you! The track goes downhill, over hills and fells, through the forest and over ice-covered swamps and lakes. You will stop to enjoy a warm drink before heading back up the Iso-Syöte hill.

Day 5 -
27th December Kick Sledge Rides and Evening Snowmobile Safari

Kicksledding is a real Finnish way of moving around on your Christmas adventure week once the snow has covered all the paths. The kicksledges are easy to use as you kick forward with one leg while the other is on the glider. You will glide all the way down the Iso-Syöte hill to a Lappish Kota where you will be served coffee and pulla around a campfire. You will then be transported back up the hill by car.
A snowmobile safari has a special atmosphere at night time when driving under the twinkling stars, over the fells and through the snowy forests. We stop to admire the stars in the sky and hopefully get a glimpse of the magical Northern Lights. We will also have a coffee break by an open campfire. Duration : 3 hrs (45km).

Day 6 -
28th December Full day husky safari
|
Around 10.30 you will be transported to the place where the huskies are eagerly waiting for visitors. You will be given instructions on how to handle the team of dogs and guide the sledge on your Christmas adventure week. The safari route goes through the magical snowy forests and ice-covered lakes in the Syöte nature area. Along the way a sandwich lunch will be served by a campfire. The journey with the huskies is approximately 30/40 kilometres.

Day 7 -
29th December Snowshoe Hiking
|
Today on our Christmas adventure week you will be given personal instructions on how to use the snowshoes. You will hike through the deep snow covering the hill tops of the Iso-Syöte, enjoying the views and the beautiful snow sculptures made by nature. During the break the guide will provide a hot drink and cookies for you. The rest of the day is at your own leisure.

Day 8 -
30th December Return flight home,

After your action-packed Christmas adventure week at the Iso-Syöte it is time to say goodbye and transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
